Ingrid is one of those books that defies classification. On the surface it is the story of Ingrid, a young art prodigy from the mid-west whose talents bring her fame as she studies painting in Italy. However the main theme of the novel is a warning about the monopolistic dangers of big tech as they exert ever increasing control over our everyday lives. The story is cleverly structured as a sort of allegorical fairy tale. Little by little Ingrid is unwittingly drawn into the middle of a power struggle for technological dominance. And like everyone else, she has no idea what it will lead to.
